Genosociogram Lab

The central focus of the genosociogram is the study of trans-generational history. The study of the family tree brings to light the invisible and unexpected threads flowing between generations, in what can be described as a proper family novel. A novel still active within ourselves – in our successes and in our challenges -, in which we play a role assigned to us without our knowledge.

By bringing to light unconscious belief patterns and unresolved legacies we have the opportunity to transform this information and bring creativity, refreshing energy and presence into our life, for us and for the generations to come.

  • Investigate invisible and unexpected threads flowing between generations

  • Learn the main types of entanglements addressed by the genosociogram

  • Gain a fresh trans-generational perspective on personal and work situations

How we work

The Genosociogram is a method to draw a family tree. The work goes far beyond the simple compilation of the family tree. It contains, not only names and dates of ancestors, but also life events, affective connections and other relations (physical and psychological) binding the members of the family.

The compilation of one’s own genosociogram is considered an initiatory work. One learns to visualise and become aware of the synchronicities of dates, events, as well as the relationships between generations.

The central focus of this work are traumas, sufferings, separations and bereavements experienced by our ancestors, which, if not sufficiently processed, can manifest in subsequent generations in the form of energy blocks, inability to have a healthy relationship with others, lack of self-esteem, generalised malaise, feelings of confusion, school or work failures, somatisation of various kinds.

During the session, the counselor gathers information on the types of relationships between the ancestral members and the quality of the connections between them. The investigation identifies disadvantaged members, repeating destinies and adversities.

This process supports the identification of invisible connections between different generations, i.e. the ‚trans-generational knot‘. These entanglements continue to affect family members in various ways, and prevent the establishment of a balanced exchange within the family.
